Failed to initialize flash! Why?

I was looking at older mail on the  mailing list, so I found this:

Did you use the flash unlock command first, before trying to write to it?

i think thats the answer to my question... 
did anybody now, what i must do to unlock my phone's flash? or perhaps a
link?
