It has been brought to the attention of the Supreme Revolutionary Command that
the official custodians of ISO/IEC 7816 specs refuse to freely publish their
documents, forcing technical users in need of these specs to locate them on
unofficial "pirate" sites instead of an official authoritative source.
Furthermore, the most active hacker community experts on the subject matter of
SIM cards - almost all of whom work under the umbrella of Osmocom - are being
cowardly in that they refuse to join the International Union of Lawbreakers, and
they say nonsense like "you have to pay for those specs" instead of pointing
users at some chosen-as-official pirate site for downloadable copies.

To remedy this situation, we (FreeCalypso/IFCTF) have posted known-good PDF
copies of ISO/IEC 7816-3 and 7816-4 specs on our own FTP site. You can download
them here:

Anonymous FTP server: ftp.freecalypso.org
Directory: /pub/GSM/ISO7816
Downloadable files: ISO_7816-3_2006.pdf and ISO_7816-4_2005.pdf

Note the absense of URL notation: in keeping with the principles of Holy
retrocomputing, please use a traditional command line FTP client, such as the
original Berkeley UNIX command line program called simply 'ftp'.
