Failed class attempt this morning

Hello dear students,
It has been brought to my attention that last morning's disaster may
have been the result of an extremely strange and unusual technical
glitch on my end, contrary to my initial assumption. When I got on
the Jitsi videoconference some 20 min before the official start time,
the Jitsi interface indicated to me that my webcam was on and my mic
was unmuted. From what I saw on my screen, it looked like I was
broadcasting my video and audio out, but no one else ever turned on
their webcam, nor said anything in response to me addressing students
by name verbally. From that Jitsi UI appearance I assumed that people
were simply unwilling to participate via webcam/mic - I did NOT suspect
a technical glitch - hence my frustrated response.
However, a student emailed me saying that they could NOT see my video
and could NOT hear anything I was saying. Can others please confirm
if they also saw no video and heard no audio from my end? If that
scenario indeed occurred, I apologize profusely!
I am away from my home office right now, but when I get back, I will
run some additional tests. I did not expect any problems because I
always get working audio and video when I participate in OsmoDevCall
and RetroNetCall videoconferences hosted by Osmocom on BigBlueButton
platform, and I also had successful audio and video on Jitsi when I
tested it some time ago. But I do admit that the one time I tested
Jitsi previously, it was only a brief test and the configuration may
have been different - hence I will test Jitsi more thoroughly.
